Event Description: While you may train to learn how to shoot and even when to shoot, most of us have no training or real understanding on what’s going to happen to us emotionally, physically and legally right after we have to shoot to defend ourselves. Reno Guns & Range is proud to host John Risenhoover, Director with CCW Safe and previously an ATF Senior Special Agent and the National Coordinator for the NIBIN Program (National Integrated Ballistic Information Network). While with ATF, John developed the DOJ and ATF National Crime Gun Intelligence Strategy, which focuses on the criminal shooter, not the gun. By identifying active criminal shooters, Crime Gun Intelligence allows Law Enforcement to be effective in combating real gun violence while preserving citizens' 2nd Amendment rights. John has traveled the nation teaching law enforcement agencies how to investigate shootings and reduce gun violence. During his 26-year career, John has investigated and prosecuted hundreds of shootings, violent crimes, home invasion cases, homicides, arsons and bombing. A few of the more notable investigations include as an investigator on the Aurora Theater Shooting and as a primary investigator on the Oklahoma City Bombing Investigation. He was wounded in the raid in Waco and assisted in the criminal prosecution. In 1992, John was forced to shoot a suspect during a search warrant on a meth lab. He was investigated and eventually cleared. Theresa Ristenpart, Ristenpart Law will also participate in this event. Discussion will include such topics as - What to do immediately after a shooting - How to interact with police - The Attorney & You - and Lots more!
