Best burrito I've had in a long time, the steak was perfectly cooked and the salsa was exactly what it needed
I called in and it was ready to pickup with no line in about 10 minutes. I was worried because I know they are always busy but I'll come grab lunch here more often.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I've enjoyed Paisan's so many times, in so many places, but I haven't been in the actual restaurant since they opened in the new location many years ago.
As catering, Paisan's kills the game with big platters filled with stacked sandwiches, fresh salads, and of course, the infamous meatballs! As takeout, this is another ace with easy ordering, fast pick up, and consistent quality.
This restaurant is more than meets the eye and I can't believe it took me so long to actually GO IN! You can see how busy they are from the street on any given day, but the frontage does not even begin to hint at the massive operation just inside the doors. The dining room is HUGE, and at lunch it's a total vibe with all sorts of groups coming together for casual lunches and business meetings. There's a long counter at the front where you place your order, behind which is a narrow windo pass that leads into the kitchen. If you look close enough you can see just how big this kitchen is and that will tell you exactly how much they do in business.
I ordered the Nonna's Pot Roast sandwich on focaccia and enjoyed it quite a bit. The focaccia was the star here. It looked and tasted house made, crusty on the outside and tender inside, it really held the whole thing together.
The pot roast was tender, veggies fresh, and the horseradish spread had a nice bite, but from the description I was picturing something a little different. I love pot roast sandwiches with super juicy and fall apart meat, and that's what I thought this would be, but instead it was more like a 1/2 inch thick slice of cold pot roast on the bread with the rest of the toppings mentioned, and in my opinion it could've benefitted from a bit more of the meat to balance the ratio to bread. I'd still order it again, but personally I'd love to see it as that slowly braised pot roast and jus with melty cheese because the bread they use is really good and it would soak it all up!
The turkey lasagna soup was the winner though. I liked being able to add a cup to my meal as a side in the combo for around $15. They had a few soups on offer and all sounded good, and this could bring me back too!
All in all, 4.5 stars for this sandwich and catering shop with good reason. They deserve all the praise and love and I'm looking forward to more meals here in the future!Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Business owner information

I have no idea how I've missed this spot for so long! It seems a little out of the way and oddly located in an industrial strip mall but - SURPRISE! Wow!
First of all, you would never expect how large the deli is inside - very open and plenty of well spaced tables. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table when it's ready. My husband and I both had a build-your-own sandwich, not one of their specialities, and a cup of soup. The soup today was turkey sausage lasagna - very good! Both of sandwiches were on their Dutch crunch bread which is amazing! I love Dutch crunch but have to admit that sometimes if it's too crunchy can almost cut my lips - not here! Perfect combo of soft bread but just crunchy enough on top.
Sandwiches were perfect! We will most definitely be making Paison's our go-to sandwich destination!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

This is a great casual lunch time deli. I stopped i for a quick lunch and was not disappointed. I ordered a grilled eggplant sandwich and my friend had a hot Italian muffuletta sandwich. Both were absolutely great! They are very large sandwiches and affordable. Ordering is at the counter and they bring your food to the table. It is very efficient. There is plenty of seating for dining in and very comfortable. They also have take out. The menu is extensive, breakfast and lunch. I will be back to sample more!!!!

I won't go down to one star that fast, but I REALLY feel like it. This is 100% the last time I spend my money on a egg & cheese breakfast burrito from Paisan's or anything from their menu for that matter. I called it in before work and asked for a 'simple' egg & cheese burrito and asked if it would be less than their fully loaded burrito which would only make sense. He didn't answer my question. When I went in to pick it up she says, "10.95". I was like, "wait, what, you charge full price for egg & cheese" and they responded, "yeah we charge for the...." For the what? I just bought 18 eggs from Costco for $3.00 and a tortilla costs 10 cents to make. I was livid and I still am. This burrito was small and I could have had potatoes and meat included for the same price. I don't think that was fair. A few years ago I would consistently order an egg, avocado, and cheese breakfast burrito and they always charged me around $6.95. And to be frank, the last couple times I've been in there I've found their staff to be unfriendly, they seem take their paying customers for granted. Shame.

I didn't feel like breakfast even though they have breakfast burritos and that's hard to turn down, but I wanted to grab something I could save for lunch.
I pulled up at about 7:25 and they open at 7:30. The door was propped open and the young guy who works there was outside putting up the flags so I asked if it was okay to get something that early and he absolutely said it was okay and that they'd get me taken care of. When I walked in they were putting out freshly made salads and right away I had my eye on the tuna with hard boiled egg so I asked for that one and a plate of their tiny cannolis (three) since I had a remaining balance. I've heard really good things about the tri-tip salad but was in the mood for fish.
I have to say it was very good! As you can see in the picture there are two HUGE scoops of tuna, crisp romaine lettuce, homemade Italian dressing, and two slices of freshly baked dutch crunch. The tuna salad was the best I'd ever had from a deli, not too much mayo, if any.
About the cannoli's....my cats name is Cannoli and I love her like crazy. I used to be a cannoli critic (not really) when I lived back east and I am a snob when it comes to them. I've been craving them for a couple months now and I have only found them at Whole Foods and see that Smiling for Hope Pizza has some good looking ones I've yet to try. The filling in these were fab. I love when the chocolate chips melt in your mouth along with the ricotta and sugar cream. The shells were a little soft but I think that's from sitting in the refrigerated area. Yum yum - so glad they give you a plate of 3!Mar 31, 2016Previous reviewOkay, yum!
It's been about 2 1/2 years since I've eaten here and that first time wasn't the best from what I can remember. I think I ordered a plain sandwich and wasn't impressed, which is why I haven't returned. Recently I bought the Groupon deal and have been hanging onto it until I felt it was a good day to get a sandwich again. My friend is a fan of the Greek on Dutch crunch, and since I love kalamata olives, I thought it sounded great and it's something I would never order. My Groupon was for $10 and the Greek sandwich was $8 so I added avocado for an extra $1 - we called it good.
First off, the sandwich was big and wrapped very nicely. I went to the gym after I left Paisan's so I knew it would have to wait in my car until I got back to work. The bread was so fresh and not at all painfully crunchy where it would cut the roof of your mouth (like most Dutch crunch breads do). There was ample turkey, tomato, and lettuce. The top had kalamata olive spread, which was actually barely noticeable and the only downside - I thought it would be saltier but I could hardly taste it when I took a bite of the sandwich as a whole. The bottom part of the bread had avocado spread and it went nicely with the rest of the sandwich. I highly recommend this deli and this sandwich. Their salads looked HUGE and loaded with great stuff (made fresh daily).
Also, the staff was very friendly even though it was super busy during lunch hour. They were willing to talk and answer any questions. My sandwich was ready in less that 2 minutes and I will be going back on another sunny day! - Aug 1, 2023
What a nice find. We liked it so much that we just had to go back before we left. We ordered the Meatball sandwich and a TriTip salad. The sangawich was very different and very good. I think the cook the meatballs and then stuff a load of bread which they later bake. It was very tasty. The salad was big, and the meat was flavorful. The next visit I ordered the gyro plate. Again, really good.
The place was always full. The service was good. The place was clean and huge. Plenty of tables and seats. Parking may be an issue during the middle of the rush.
Come check it out. Great food and huge assortment of choices. Something for everybody.
I really recommend this place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chuck S.Ukiah, CA0198Feb 16, 2024
I had a breakfast with a chorizo patties, and my buddy had chili, Quiles, and both of us concur that this was one of the best meals ever
The outside of the building does not do the inside justice. It is so beautifully decorated clean and efficient. The food was fast very well, priced and excellent.
I definitely will be back and highly recommend this five star location to all my friends and familyHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Paisan's daily soup was what we came here for. Half sandwch and soup is very reasonably priced with a lot of meat choices to go in the sandwich. A beer to wash it down.
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Nov 22, 2022Previous reviewThey are at the end of a line of businesses and was recommended. The dinning area was huge and busy with customers. We didn't quite know what to order so was at the mercy of the guy at the counter.
We ordered a Cubana sandwich which was quite hefty and a hot sandwich. Surprisingly good was soup of the day. Also had a beer on tap. - Max V.Spanish Springs, NV011Feb 7, 2024
Was passing by and saw ITALIAN DELI... I'm sorry but this is not an Italian deli. I got a meatball sandwich and an Italian sausage sandwich. Looked and tasted like it came premade and frozen then they put it in the microwave. Bread was chewy and rubbery from microwave. Idk bout you, but I've never had an Italian sausage sandwich made with frozen pizza sausage nuggets. It was disgusting. The meatballs sandwich was literally the same except little nasty frozen meatball nuggets.
Also got a couple salads, pasta and potato... literally straight off the Sysco truck . Nothing here is home made.
Baffling how this place gets such good ratings. But then again, it's Reno. Lived here for 4 years now and am constantly disappointed by the food.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Sorry you didn’t enjoy your lunch. I have been making that meatball sandwich that same way for almost 30 years and it continues to be one of our top sellers. As far as our salads they are all homemade and always have been. Don’t appreciate your comments about nothing is homemade. Maybe try a chain restaurant next time and not a local place that has been serving quality food for 30 years.

I've been a long time fan of Paisan's as they've catered alot of family gatherings I've attended or hosted and the food is always homemade, fresh, with wonderful flavor. I recently attended a private event here and it was so well done and their location and space is perfect for it that I had to write them a review.
I've stopped in off and on when I worked off Longley for a quick lunch as well.
Their tri tip is tops, and they used to sell it for take home dinner in the summer evenings, their dutch crunch rolls, their salads and cannolis are also me favorites.
I can't say enough also about the wonderful pesto pasta salad - that accompany the sandwiches or on the side order. I could eat a bowl of this alone anytime.
Mike and his crew of family members and staff are great hosts and hostesses as well and care about the quality of food and patrons they serve. Buon appetito!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information
