The Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center is a historic landmark, deeply ingrained in the fabric of the Reno community. Opened in 1963, the Planetarium was designed by Raymond Hellmann, a local architect who designed more than $100 million in construction upon moving to Reno in 1951.

Over the course of its history, the Planetarium has hosted thousands of field trips for students eager to learn about atmospheric science, and continues to immerse students in interactive field trip experiences seven days a week. In addition, the center is open to the local community, and provides people of all ages with access to public screenings in the Full-Dome Theater and a plethora of exhibits around the facility. The Science Store also serves as a one-stop-shop for all sorts of intergalactic gadgets and gifts, perfect for space and science lovers alike.

Since its founding more than 50 years ago, The National Judicial College has been the nation’s premier judicial education institution. The NJC pursues its mission of making the world a more just place by educating and inspiring its judiciary with the support of individuals and organizations dedicated to preserving and improving the rule of law. Its supporters include scores of active and retired judges and attorneys along with government agencies and private foundations. Teaching at the NJC is a high honor, and most NJC courses are taught by judges who volunteer their time. The same is true of the members of the NJC’s boards of trustees and visitors.

The Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association (ESIA) is dedicated to forging strong emotional and intellectual bonds between the Sierra Nevada public lands and visitor of this broad region. We do this by educating and inspiring people through high quality interpretive products, exhibits, and programs. ESIA has been committed to serving the Sierra for nearly fifty years. As one of the oldest nonprofits in the region, ESIA was established in 1970 by visionary citizens interested in helping the U.S. Forest Service provide interpretive education relevant to the unique surrounding landscape and to communicate with the public about the importance of public lands of the Sierra. Before receiving its nonprofit 501(c)3 status in 1971, ESIA became one of the first independent organizations in the United States to operate under a Participating Agreement with the U.S. Forest Service for interpretive services. Today, ESIA holds Participating Agreements with three U.S. National Forests; the Inyo National Forest, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, and Tahoe National Forest. ESIA holds one formal Vendor Agreement and two Cooperative Agreements with the U.S. National Park Service; Death Valley National Park, Devils Postpile National Monument, and Manzanar National Historic Site, respectfully. Additionally, ESIA holds a Cooperative Agreement for Visitor and Recreation Services: Education and Interpretive Projects with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Bishop Field Office.
